nearing the newness

When was the last time I played in the rain. splashed and ran with no cares of getting wet kind of played. Has it realy been over ten years? My freshman year of college...
I was at a cast party for a show titled The Clearing. I was quite the fan of my stagemanager so I stayed at the party longer than normal in the hopes of spending more time with her. My ride left. the party was winding down and a few of us decided not to call a cab due to how close the campus was. Then it started to rain. All but three of us chickened out and chipped in. The cab carted them most of the way home.
The three of us left had a ruckous good time emptying puddles and laughing at ourselves. we were soaked three minutes into the walk. our fingers had pruned before reaching home, every fiber was saturated. It must have been around 3 am before we got back but it was worth it.
Tonight I heated my soup, perfect food just after oral surgery. I heard thunder. I went outside to see how bad it was, and it was warm. I wanted to take a short walk but my food was ready. I thought about it and the multitude of static from all the things that need my attention went quite. My soup could wait, and wait it did.
I walked and splashed and prayed. The first puddle was warm from the pavement. It was a light rain and I prayed "let it rain harder." Grace was granted. I walked the comlex with a smile. a sloppy, dripping faced smile.

I feel clean.
